The B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant (BEPWTP) is operated by Louisville Water (Owner) and is located at 7400 River Road, Prospect KY, 40059. The BEPWTP is a 60 MGD groundwater treatment plant that is supplied by five (5) Horizontal Collector Wells (HCWs). One (1) of the HCWs (CW-1) is a traditional collector well that is pumped directly to the WTP. Four (4) of the HCWs (CW-2 through CW-5) drain to a sub-alluvial bedrock tunnel that conveys the raw water to the WTP and is then pumped by a single pump station to the WTP for treatment. The four HCWs connected to the tunnel have been in operation for twelve (12) years. The traditional collector well has been in operation since 1999.
