Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Durham is upgrading its Metropolitan Area Network to transmit high speed data across its new fiber infrastructure. The new network will be capable of 10G data transmission at the data center and hub locations. The City expects to achieve a minimum transmission rate of 1G TO THE DESKTOP. To fully utilize the City’s new fiber Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) infrastructure, an assessment of each facility’s local area network is needed to ensure that the devices at the facility can connect at up to 1G speeds if required. The assessment is also needed to ensure that the future Local Area Network (LAN) design will align to the business needs of each business unit. The assessment will be used to create a design of the LANs based on the business requirements. We wish to use this assessment to create LAN design criteria for each facility.
