Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. The mechanical split seal units shall replace the leaky cartridge mechanical seals currently installed on the existing pumps at Greg Avenue Facility. It is expected that the leakage, if any, of properly installed split seals will be significantly less. B. Existing Conditions 1. The existing cartridge mechanical seals are leaking excessively. 2. The operating conditions and stuffing box dimensions are shown on the Data Sheet. 3. The Contractor may request visit to the site for field verification before fabrication begins. However, as the pumps must remain on stand-by, the existing mechanical seals will still likely be installed on the pumps and may not be removed until after the new seals have been delivered on site. C. The seal shall be pusher type, fully split, consisting of factory pre-assembled, modular components. Each component shall include means to align and match up with each other without any adhesives. D. Seal construction shall incorporate flexibly mounted rotating face to compensate for mounting tolerance resulting in better face-to-face sealing...
