Specifications include, but are not limited to: The County has several annual goals each year associated with the approved Legislative Program. Contractor shall provide the services described herein to accomplish the following goals: 4.1.1.Focused Advocacy of the Priority Issues in the County’s Legislative Program The Representative must, each year, seek opportunities to advance the Board of Supervisors’ legislative priorities as identified in the County’s Legislative Program. This includes advocacy needed with Congressional offices outside of our local delegation who represent regions with similar interests, established relationships with Committee Members and their staff most knowledgeable on the issues, and leveraging other partners as needed for joint advocacy. 4.1.2.Prioritize Funding Opportunities. Representative must, each year, recommend an advocacy strategy to request earmark funding from our Congressional delegation offices, and advocate for appropriations priorities as identified by the County. With ever changing leadership and budget timelines, the County will rely on the Representative to identify the approach that will be most successful in obtaining new funding and maintaining current levels of funding for critical programs. 4.1.3.Engage at the Forefront of Large Policy and Funding Issues. As one of the largest urban counties in the country, our Representative should ensure we have a voice in significant policy and budget conversations. The County seeks to influence these conversations through the expertise of County staff, data relevant to our region, or the voice of our County Supervisor(s).
