Specifications include, but are not limited to: The preformed marking material shall consist of white or yellow retroreflective films on a conformable backing. The size, quality and refractive index of the glass beads shall be such that the performance requirements of the marking shall be met. The bead adhesion shall be such that the beads are not easily removed when the material surface is scratched with a thumbnail. The pigments shall be selected and blended to provide pavement markings which are white or yellow, conforming to standard highway colors. The marking material shall be precoated with a pressure sensitive adhesive which will not require a covering for protection from contamination, pre-adhesion or blocking within the roll and shall be capable of being adhered to asphalt concrete or Portland cement concrete in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions without the use of heat, solvents, or other additional adhesive means. This shall be possible at temperatures as low as 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
