Specifications include, but are not limited to: The incubation cohort will consist of between eight to 12 participants. Over a five-year span, the State desires to award up to 60 sub-grants, with a portion going to non-profits that will “incubate and grow innovative charter school models with high potential for success (pg. 26 – 27).”3 The main objective of the incubation program is to recruit high-performing school and system leaders and provide tailored support for each participant to accomplish the following: ● maximize the likelihood of success for new and/or expanded charter schools, ● steward each participant through completing an application for the Quality Counts Grant through the federal Charter Schools Program (CSP), and ● submit a charter application to one of Indiana’s approved charter school authorizers.
