Specifications include, but are not limited to: I. DESIRED TRAINERS A. Trainers with diverse identities. B. Experience working with Vermont/regional organizations. C. Attention to “triple bottom line” (environmental, social, and economic outcomes). D. Committed track record in understanding racism and effectively begin the discussions around dismantling it. II. DESIRED TRAINING STRATEGIES/METHODS A. Organize and offer three (3) virtual trainings on the topics of racial equity, diversity, and inclusion. The first training to be offered virtually no later than December 1, 2024. B. Co-facilitate in teams of two or more to bring diverse and multiple perspectives into the trainings. C. Establish group agreements to create brave, respectful learning spaces in which each person’s dignity is honored. D. Scaffold learning opportunities and risk opportunities, starting from activities that are lower- risk and moving to more challenging activities. E. Conduct Learners’ Needs and Resources Assessment: Prior to conducting trainings, offer participants optional opportunities to respond to a short Learners’ Needs and Resources Assessment. F. Develop a plan for change that includes meaningful goals and an action plan for each participant as well as an anti-racist vision and plan. The State expects the awarding entity to design and address the following components in their training: III. SUBJECTS THAT MAY BE INCLUDED IN THE PROPOSED CURRICULUM A. Implicit bias / institutional bias B. How to be inclusive? Understanding that this is not just a goal but a daily practice. C. Racism D. Assuring equity through policy development E. How to be inclusive in daily work and home life F. Open discussion and training on dismantling racism
