Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project includes the resurfacing and restriping of approximately 27 miles of County roads. Refer to the maps in Appendix B for more information.7. The contractor is responsible for shoulder construction on all roads where resurfacing results in a difference of greater than one inch in elevation from the edge of pavement to the earth shoulder. If shoulder height is greater than road elevation, contractor is responsible for grading shoulders to match road elevation. Material shall be approved by County Engineer. New dirt placed on shoulders shall be compacted and grassed. On all roads where the resurfacing results in a difference in elevation from edge of pavement to earth shoulder that is greater than 2 inches, drums, cones, or vertical panels with night-time reflectivity along with “Low Shoulder” signs or “Shoulder Drop-Off” signs shall be installed along the edge of pavement until the shoulder construction has been completed, unless the drop off is alleviated with a healed edge. Channelization devices shall have a maximum spacing of 80 feet. Cones shall have a minimum height of 28 inches, and channelization devices must conform to Section 6F of the MUTCD. 8. Milled Surfaces shall not be allowed to remain open to traffic for a period greater than 30 calendar days. 9. Flagging operations shall be required for this work and shall be in accordance with Part 6 of the current MUTCD. 10. If the duration of work is longer than 14 calendar days in any location, postmounted traffic control signage shall be installed in accordance with the current edition of the MUTCD. 11. The Contractor is responsible for coordinating work with property owners within the project limits to ensure access to properties is adequately maintained. The Contractor is responsible for any damage to these properties as a result of the work during construction. 12. The Contractor is responsible for ensuring that all pavement surfaces are cleaned of debris prior to applying the bituminous tack coat or seal coat. This work includes clipping the edge of pavement where it is covered by grass or soil.
