Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1) Monitor the site for security, safety and building maintenance; take appropriate action in accordance with post orders. 2) Provide information and assistance to visitors and employees, as necessary. 3) Permit only authorized persons to enter restricted areas, in accordance with the post duties provided at each City facility. 4) Report potentially hazardous conditions immediately and items in need of repair (e.g. inoperative locks, slippery floor surfaces). 5) Conduct and/or assist with investigations on incidents/complaints, as directed by the City Representative or designee. 6) Summon medical assistance, as necessary. 7) Respond with both firmness and politeness in a situation involving an aggressive or belligerent behavior by an occupant/visitor. If such action does not result in neutralization of the situation; the Guard is to calmly refer the occupant/visitor to a supervisor for assistance. In the event of a menacing or threating situation, the Guard is to call 911. 8) Submit a daily log to the City at the end of each business day, containing information on all incidents, as well as the disposition of any keys, locking systems or anything else required for use at their post. 9) Be familiar with all access control devices, emergency routes and equipment, elevator locations, stairwells and fire exits prior to post assignment. 10) Provide security during special events and emergency situations. 11) Perform additional duties, as requested, which may include special orders or additional tours of duty. 12) Guards must be clean, well-groomed and display a professional appearance.
