The Transportation and Logistics Training Center will offer training in four high demand careers. This Project will expand the existing Commercial Truck Driving Program, which is currently in an aging mobile unit, and add Diesel Technology, Certified Warehousing & Distribution Specialist, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The robust logistics sector in the Valdosta area and WGTC’s proximity to I-75 makes the college a perfect transportation and logistics hub. The facility will include bays/loading ramps with a simulated warehousing environment where WGTC can expand economic development offerings and begin new credit programs to offer our students and stakeholders. The project will consist of a new instructional facility and an additional backing pad. The facility is estimated to be 14,500 GSF, and the CTD Backing Pad 72,900 SF. Preliminary plans include four classrooms, a shared computer lab, a diesel technology lab with hoist equipment, a logistics lab with racking and warehouse-type fixtures, covered outdoor observation areas, an office suite and common areas for both students and faculty.
