Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Anderson, South Carolina, (Owner) is requesting assistance in removing the Anaerobic Digester #3 cover at the Rocky River WWTP, located at 309 Kirkwood Drive, Anderson, SC. The existing digester, manufactured by Envirex, has a diameter of 60 feet. Due to missing corbels to support the cover, damaged connection points between the cover and the concrete tank, and impaired spiral tracts that guide the rollers, the digester tank cannot be completely drained. Therefore, the sludge has been displaced with water to mitigate potential hazards from flammable gases and explosions. The tank has been filled with water so that the top of the cover remains above the wall edge to provide clean air to dissipate any gas that may be produced. The tank is being monitored with gas detectors for methane at the pressure vacuum relief (PVR) points and/or gas piping.
