At Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens, we continue to make improvements to the facility for enhancing the guest experience and animal welfare. This scope of work includes pipe insulation in several of our life support systems to reduce the amount of condensation. The contractor shall provide all materials and labor to insulate pipes in all identified areas. The contractor shall not use spray insulation on any pipes. This work shall include the valve bodies, but the contractor shall ensure that the valves will still operate. The following areas and pipes have been identified for insulation: • Octopus Exhibit o 2-inch pipes and below o Entire system (exhibit and back of house holding system), including UV sterilizer • Jellyfish Exhibit o 3-inch pipes and below o Entire system (exhibit and back of house holding system), including UV sterilizers and heat exchangers • Sea Lion Exhibit o Two 12-inch lines, approximately 9 feet total o One 6-inch line, approximately 15 feet total • Penguin Exhibit o Heat exchanger lines o 2-inch pipe and below The LSS that will be insulated shall have animals in them and shall not be removed for this project. Therefore, LSS shall not be shut down, nor can valves be manipulated without the consent of Aquarium staff. Contractors shall work will Zoo staff to mitigate debris as there are open areas of water (ie. Dropping debris/materials into the sumps of systems)
