Specifications include, but are not limited to: The scope of work for the removal of the stump shall be: Grind or dig out. If ground, all stumps shall be ground to a depth that severs the roots from the main root ball to a minimum depth of 10” from finished grade (not original grade). All surface roots and/or raised areas from the root flare shall be ground out or leveled and filled to match the surrounding grade. All holes resulting from the removal of stumps shall be backfilled by the end of the daily work period. No such holes will be allowed to remain open after the Contractor is done working for the day. After preparing and finishing the areas for a good quality topsoil to the required lines, grades, slopes and cross-section, place and spread the topsoil to a uniform depth to minimum of 6”. The backfill material must be approved by the County and should be of sufficient quality to support grass cover and contain no debris (glass, sawdust, large rock, etc.). If light sandy soils are covered with heavier clay bearing loam topsoil, then mix or blend the 2 types of soils to a more or less homogeneous mixture by using the appropriate equipment. Break down clods and lumps using the appropriate equipment to provide a uniformly textured soil. Fertilizer Type A or Type B shall be applied. It should be spread upon the soil at the manufacturer’s required rate and worked into the soil during the preparation of the seedbed, unless seeds are sown with a hydro-seeder, in which case, the fertilizer may be applied in the water along with the seed. When seeding ensure that the upper 2”, 100% material passes a one-inch sieve and at least 90% passes the No. 10 sieve. Seed shall be La Crosse Seed’s Madison Parks Professional Landscape Mix (or equivalent) of the following blend: o 50% Kentucky Bluegrass (4 Elite Varieties) o 25% Perennial Ryegrass (1 Elite Variety) o 25% Creeping Red Fescue (1 Elite Variety) Seed shall be covered with Geo-Synthetics Systems, LLC Erosion Control Blank S31 BD (or equivalent). Contractor shall remove all grindings offsite and cannot be used as fill. Stump removal will be priced per stump removed to 10” deep.
