Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1. Provide virtual or in-person courses that will be utilized in educating our special education teachers and special education coordinators. The educational courses shall include but not be limited to the following: 2.1.1. Instruction on Modeling and Teaching Social Emotional Learning to include: 2.1.1.1. Participants should be shown how to review the research on the five (5) core competencies and reflect on how to model and teach self-awareness and self-management; 2.1.1.2. Participants should be shown how to explore classroom practices and strategies that effectively incorporate social-emotional skill building into academic instruction both in-person and virtually; 2.1.1.3. Participants should be shown how to develop a plan that will work with their specific students to effectively apply the knowledge, behaviors, and skills necessary to identify, regulate, and manage emotions, and set and achieve goals; 2.1.1.4. Participants should be shown how to reflect on how to model and teach social awareness and relationship management. Participants will explore classroom practices and strategies that effectively incorporate social-emotional skill building into academic instruction both in-person and virtually; 2.1.1.5. Participants should be shown how to develop a plan that will work with their specific students to effectively apply the knowledge, behaviors, and skills necessary to understand how and what others may be thinking or doing in a variety of settings, demonstrate empathy, and establish and maintain appropriate and positive relationships; 2.1.1.6. Participants should be shown how to reflect on how to model and teach responsible decision making; 2.1.1.7. Participants should be shown how to explore classroom practices and strategies that effectively incorporate social-emotional skill building into academic instruction both in-person and virtually; and 2.1.1.8. Participants should be shown how to develop a plan that will work with their specific students to effectively apply the knowledge, behaviors, and skills necessary to problem solve social situations and make responsible decisions to set the stage for success in school, careers, and life.
