Preventative Maintenance Preventative maintenance of refrigeration, preparation and cooking equipment, dishwashing machines, and ice machines will be accomplished at least semi-annually per contract year at all CRSD campuses. Dish machines will be serviced once per year. A minimum of 2 hours per school must be spent to complete the preventative maintenance inspection/service. The Child Nutrition Department will determine the Preventative Maintenance schedule. The second preventative maintenance checkup will be scheduled six months after that. Refrigeration Equipment Preventative maintenance will include the following: 1. Clean condenser and evaporator coils. 2. Check that all drains (including evaporator drains) are clear and blow out if necessary. 3. Check that the condensate pan heater is operating properly. 4. Verify that fans and blades are clean and operational. Fan motors and blades are clean and operational. 5. Verify unit temperatures are within the industry-recommended range and adjust if necessary. 6. Check for visual signs of refrigerant leaks and verify refrigerant levels. 7. Check the condition of gaskets for cracks or signs of mold. Recommend replacement if needed. 8. Check doors for proper alignment and adjust if needed. 9. Check the condition of electrical cords. Recommend replacement if needed. 10. Replace filters and change light bulbs as needed. 11. Perform additional preventative maintenance deemed necessary including minor repairs with an estimate of $300 or less. Major repairs discovered during a preventative maintenance inspection must be noted and relayed to the Supervisor of Child Nutrition or designated staff. Heating, Hot Holding, and Preparation Equipment Preventative maintenance will include the following: 1. Calibrated for proper temperature and gas pressure if applicable. 2. Clean blower motor, clear flue, burners, pilots, and orifices of any restrictions. 3. Check for gas leaks and signs of safety issues. 4. Check the condition of gaskets for cracks. Recommend replacement if needed. 5. Check doors for proper alignment. Lubricate chains, hinges, latches, and door switches if applicable. 6. Check tilt mechanisms and chain drive, tighten idler gear if applicable. 7. Check for water leaks and ensure that drains are clear. 8. Assess the condition of holding wells and pans. Check for pitting, rust, etc. 9. Check motor and oil level if applicable. Lubricate if applicable. 10. Check the condition of electrical cords. Recommend replacement if needed. 11. Check filters if replacement is needed. 12. Tighten all electrical connections and test electrical components. 13. Perform additional preventative maintenance deemed necessary including minor repairs with an estimate of $300 or less. Major repairs discovered during a preventative maintenance inspection must be noted and relayed to the Supervisor of Child Nutrition or designation staff. Dishwashers Preventative maintenance will include the following: 1. Check scale condition and if descaling is needed. 2. Check the Boiler tank condition. 3. Check the condition of the sprayer arms and that all nozzles are clear. 4. Check for water leaks and ensure that drains are clear. 5. Check the condition of the curtains. 6. Check filters if replacement is needed. 7. Perform additional preventative maintenance deemed necessary including minor repairs with an estimate of $300 or less. Major repairs discovered during a preventative maintenance inspection must be noted and relayed to the Supervisor of Child Nutrition or designated staff.
