Specifications include, but are not limited to: Vermont River Conservancy (VRC) is seeking a qualified contractor to conduct an archaeological resource assessment (ARA) of four obsolete dams on the Winooski River near Montpelier, Vermont. VRC is working with environmental engineers and recreation professionals to design the removal of these four dams and improved recreational access to the Winooski River. This project seeks to conduct an ARA to understand the archeological resource considerations of removing each of the four dams. The assessment of these dams is considered a single project due to their geographic proximity (all within a 4 mile stretch of river) and should not be considered four stand alone assessments. Archaeological studies will help assess the feasibility and requirements to remove the four dams.
