Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Offer prevention and wellness programs for middle and high school student athletes by providing evidence-based substance prevention services to youth, coaches, their caregivers and other invested adults. • Train coaches, school staff, youth serving organizations and community partners in evidence-based substance prevention programs to ensure sustainability. • Support the incorporation of prevention and wellness activities and education into athletic programs and youth clubs. • Support the promotion of substance misuse prevention, education, outreach and awareness activities in schools and communities across the state. • Promote physical and mental wellness activities for youth to build resiliency and encourage positive decision-making strategies. • Provide accessible, supportive services to youth who are impacted by substance misuse by offering safe group settings and activities to share their experiences and learn skills to build resiliency. • Promote the safe storage and disposal of medications to limit access of prescription medications and other drugs to children and youth. • Implement substance use screening and early intervention for youth (this is contingent upon DSCYF securing additional funds already requested in SOR funding)
