Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The physician clinician will provide: a. Patient care, including, but not limited to STI examinations, point of care testing, microscopy examinations of STI specimens, STI treatments, STI counseling, and referrals to other agencies for further follow-up in accordance to current standards of practice, and b. Consultation to STI nurse clinicians and other physicians in the community on treatment plans for patients. Medical services shall comply with the State’s policies and procedures which in accordance with the latest edition of the “Sexually Transmitted Infections Treatment Guidelines” published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A copy is available online at https://www.cdc.gov/std/treatment-guidelines/ 2. The physician clinician and laboratory technical supervisor will provide: a. Clinical functions (see #1), and b. Oversee the laboratory work performed within the STI Clinic to be in compliance with current Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Regulations published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Participate in the STI Clinic’s on-site survey conducted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to ensure laboratory compliance. 3. The physicians will attend required annual clinic trainings, and clinic meetings, as necessary.
