The purpose of this project is to collect data to beter understand the occurrence of nitrate contamination throughout the aquifers of the LUBGWMA. At present, there is uncertainty about the location and degree of nitrate contamination in the shallow sedimentary aquifer system and underlying basalt aquifers of the LUBGWMA. While thousands of nitrate samples have been collected and analyzed as part of Oregon Health Authority’s (OHA) effort to address the public health crisis, many of the wells sampled cannot be confidently associated with specific aquifers because the wells do not have original well logs detailing well construction and lithology. This project will address that knowledge gap by performing geophysical surveys at approximately twenty (20) wells in key locations across the LUBGWMA.
