Specifications include, but are not limited to: Inspections are performed on all manner of rides from bounce houses to kiddie rides to metal or wooden roller coasters. Inspections take place all across the state. Inspectors provided must have a minimum of a current NAARSO Certificate Level I or AIMS International Level I, Associate Ride Inspector (ARI). In order to inspect a permanent park a NAARSO or AIMS Level II contractor employee shall be on location at all times. Inspectors must also determine if rides meet the requirements listed in the KRS and KAR, industry standards including ASTM, and follow all manufacturers’ checklists, bulletins, alerts, notices, NFPA 70 and federal notices. KDA receives applications for annual business identification numbers, then identifies locations, approximate dates, and the estimated number and types of amusements rides to be inspected. Ride operators are required to notify KDA 14 days in advance of when an inspection is needed. KDA will work with the contractor to assign and schedule inspections in a timely manner. The inspections will be assigned on an as needed basis. Inspection assignments may involve travel to both urban and rural areas of Kentucky. When KDA schedules an inspection, the contractor will be required to provide a quote based on what is known about the inspection services needed for a particular location or event. This quote will be reviewed and approved by KDA. The total inspection cost quoted must include all of the contractors’ expenses, including travel costs and other per diems. The quote will be for the entirety of the project and not broken out. A contracted inspector will complete all amusement ride inspections requested by KDA.
