This project consists of invasive species control and establishment of native species on City of Madison property at Harvey Schmidt Park (2100 Carver St, Madison, WI 53713). The primary goal of this project is to promote biodiversity in specific areas where native species serve a critical function in either improving stormwater infiltration or providing habitat for diverse and fragile ecosystems. This project is for work to be started in 2024 and completed in 2026. The plants to be removed and/or treated have been identified as invasive by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources under Wisconsin Statue Section 23.22 (1) (c) or have been identified by Parks staff as overly aggressive for that ecosystem. (for example, Populus sp. saplings in a raingarden).
