Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City’s Public Works Department maintains all public rights-of-way within the City. This task includes mowing and trimming of the grassed areas along each side of paved roadways as necessary to keep the travel ways and neighborhood roadways from becoming overgrown and unsightly. The Department is also responsible for maintenance of alleys throughout the city. Most of these alleys are unpaved with significant vegetation along each side. It is necessary to keep the vegetation trimmed so that the alleys are passable for vehicles, residents, and utility service providers, as well as keeping a well-maintained appearance. The City also occasionally assumes responsibility for maintenance of privately-owned properties through court ordered property clearing requirements initiated by the city’s Code Enforcement Department. In these circumstances, it is necessary for crews to trim and remove severely overgrown vegetation from uninhabited, abandoned, or otherwise neglected properties for the purposes of appearance, safety, and sanitation. The City is seeking qualified vendors to provide services for these mowing and vegetative maintenance tasks within the City. Future projects may be included in any of the categories listed below. Qualifications submittals shall address the vendors’ experience, work history, and ability to perform tasks in the following areas: General right-of-way mowing: This task may include general mowing and trimming along curb and/or sidewalk (if present) to supplement City mowing crews. Pruning or cutting of hedges and other larger vegetation may be required at times to maintain visibility and sight lines at intersections. Paper and trash pick-up may be necessary in order to avoid cutting and spreading trash during mowing operation. Obstacles which may be encountered include above-ground utilities, mailboxes, parked vehicles, trash cans and debris piles. Maintenance of Alleys: This task may include mowing and trimming of unimproved alleys within the city. The vegetation must be cut back to the property line on each side of the alley (alley width is typically 15 ft) to allow for vehicle passage. The maintenance task will include pruning and trimming of larger vegetation, mowing of grassed areas and removal/disposal of debris. The length of the alleys varies and will be determined at the time of project pricing and contractor selection. Obstacles encountered may include overhead utility lines, above-ground utilities, mailboxes, parked cars, and debris piles. Court-ordered property clearing: This task may include mowing, trimming, and pruning of residential or commercial sites which have become severely overgrown. Task may include mowing of lawns or grassed areas, and trimming around foundations, sidewalks, driveways or curbs. Pruning may include hedges, shrubs or trees up to four inches in diameter. Contractor/vendor will be responsible for removal and disposal of debris from site. Obstacles may include overhead utility lines, above-ground utilities, mailboxes, and debris piles.
