Specifications include, but are not limited to: In 1965, the United States Congress enacted the Older Americans Act, and in 1973 the Older Americans Act Comprehensive Services Amendments established the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA). The purpose of the act is to aid in the development of new or improved programs to assure the dignity and worth of older persons. AAA’s are responsible to plan, coordinate and advocate for the development of a comprehensive service delivery system that includes legal services to meet the needs of older persons. The designated AAA for Kitsap County is the Division of Aging and Long-Term Care. The Division is under the authority of the Human Services Department. The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Aging and Long-Term Care Administration requires each AAA to provide legal services.
