The City of Superior, WI is seeking bids from qualified firms to design the necessary components to complete Phase 2 of the pilot high-speed Fiber-To-The-Premise (FTTP) Optical Network (XGS-PON) communications Network (the Project) within the City’s defined Service Area. The system shall be a fully operational high-speed communications network supporting Internet protocol technology and allowing users access to and from the Internet. The Project requires the design of a Fiber-to-the-Premise feeder/distribution network which will support XGS-PON technologies to be utilized to deliver best-effort and guaranteed services to its customers within the City Service Area. The design will identify the placement of 6-7 Nokia 117 Cabinets (OLT) to maximize customer disbursement and minimize impact of outages. The City’s main data center and network POP has been completed in Phase 1 and is located at City Hall (1316 North 14th Street). Fiber routes of approximately 100 miles to be built by contractor and operated by the City that will be utilized to provide FTTP Services to residents and businesses of Superior, WI. Fiber routes should be laid out logically to economically connect each service area back to the OLT located at the headend or alternate node site. A GPON FTTP style Architecture is utilized for the feeder network and distribution network nodes. This project is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This design project shall be completed by June 30, 2025.
