Operate and promote a rural intercity bus service identified within the strategies of the DEPARTMENT’s 2018 Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan. The degree of funding will be distributed to the successful Proposers, based on their capacity and ability to fulfill the intercity bus service objectives. The provision of rural intercity bus service, in which the selected Proposer(s) will operate and promote the service, increase public awareness of the service through an intercity bus marketing program, and assist in the development of feeder routes through cooperation with new or existing local transit providers or human services agencies, to provide rural residents with greater access to the regional or national intercity network. Charter and tour bus services are not eligible under this program. The successful Proposer will be responsible for funding the rural intercity bus service and will request reimbursement for eligible expenses through the DEPARTMENT. The DEPARTMENT will use §5311(f) funding to reimburse the selected project(s) at up to fifty-nine and 38/100 percent (59.38%) of the net operating expenses of the project.
