The goal is to reconfigure the Administration area to create a larger training room, an office for the Battalion Chiefs, an office for the Lieutenants, and an office for a second deputy chief. The Wilmette Fire Department is unable to hold meetings with other departments because of the space needed to hold more than 12 people. The Battalion Chiefs do not have the ability to work in an environment conducive to privacy since their office area has no doors. The Lieutenants work alongside the firefighters, which also prevents them from being able to hold private and confidential conversations or work projects. There are numerous programs that personnel work on that require a workplace to complete projects and responsibilities. Examples include the EMS coordinator, the Training coordinator, the Radio coordinator, Public Education manager, and Fire Investigations. A “projects office” could be utilized by staff to work on projects that require a door with a private quiet space to work or hold a virtual meeting without interruption.
