A. Standard Roadway Salt 1. Must Meet ASTM-D-632 and qualify as Type 1 Grade 1 Road Salt 2. 95% Minimum sodium chloride content 3. Maximum 1.5% moisture content 4. At least 25PPM of an approved caking retardant 5. Material will be free flowing and free of lumps, aggregation and foreign matter 6. Material color will be natural (white) B. Treated Roadway Salt 1. Must Meet ASTM-D-632 and qualify as Type 1 Grade 1 Road Salt 2. 95% Minimum sodium chloride content before blending 3. Maximum 1.5% moisture content before blending 4. At least 25PPM of an approved caking retardant 5. Corrosion inhibited pre-wetting agent containing 22%-24% magnesium or calcium chloride 6. Corrosion value of at least 70% less than sodium chloride, as tested by the National Association of Corrosion Engineers Standard TM-O1-69 7. Minimum 91% sodium chloride content after blending, as determined by AASHTO T-260- 6 modified 8. The pre-wetting and corrosion agents will be applied to the standard road salt equal to seven (7) gallons of liquid to one (1) ton of salt; plus/or minus one-half (1/2) gallon 9. The product shall not produce excessive leaching or separation of materials in storage that compromises the effectiveness of the product for at least twenty-four (24) months 10.
