Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. RUNWAY BROOM REPLACEMENT CASSETTE, INTENT AND OVERVIEW A. It is the intent of these specifications to describe the minimum requirements for Runway Broom Replacement Cassette unit. B. The unit bid shall be new, unused, and non-refurbished. C. The unit bid shall fit an “MB Companies Model 4600” runway sweeper broom. D. Unit bid shall be manufactured by United Rotary Brush Company, Part No. 29-CW235280, (or MB Companies Part No. RSS100837), or City approved equal. An example Runway Broom Replacement Cassette is shown in Exhibit “D”, Schematic Drawing. E. Bidder shall specify brand and model of unit bid: ____________ 2. BRISTLES A. The cassettes shall consist of enough sections to fill the broom cores properly, leaving no more than ¾ inch end play in each rail. Each rail/track is approx. 118 inches long. Inside end plates of core and there are 28 rows per core, with two (2) cores on each broom head. B. Bristles shall be made of all wire bristles, plastic/poly cups at the base and shall not have more than 1-5/8 inch between the centers of each tuft for maximum wire tuft per rail length. The wire tuft length from top of the base to the bristle tip shall be no less than 11 inches. Bidder shall state how many tufts of wire there would be in each rail core of unit bid:_______________________________________________ C. The cassette wire shall have a mean diameter of 0.018 inches, galvanized, with a carbon content of 0.81 to 0.86 percent, 1750 wire per foot minimum. D. The bristles shall be suitable for extreme temperatures that can range from a -20 degree Fahrenheit winter to 100 degrees Fahrenheit summer. 3. BROOM CORE (46 INCH BROOM ONLY) The single or dual cassette type core sections shall sustain the loads imposed by the snow removal capacity of the unit. Each core shall consist of multiple aluminum extrusions bolted together in a tubular form. There shall be a minimum of 28 rows of cassette bristles for maximum snow moving capabilities. Gaps shall not be permissible around the circumference between the rows. Cores shall be individually dynamically balanced to acceptable values at rated RPM. The cassette core shall be compatible with United and SIB cassettes. The cassette core shall accept wire or poly type bristles.
