Specifications include, but are not limited to: Work Limits: This is a “four strand wire fence” removal and reconstruction contract. This project specifically entails removal and reconstruction of approximately 20,480feet (~ 3.9 miles) of 4-strand barbed wire fence to the specifications listed below( a sub portion of that length may be converted to net wire with barbed on top). The reconstructed fence will need to be constructed with necessary support posts and bracing. At road crossings with cattle guards (3 known) the cattle guard would be left unfenced, and the gate would be adjacent to the cattle guard. Gate locations are identified on the map and can be discussed at the pre-work conference. Because of the accessibility of the work site, it may be advantageous for contractors to utilize mobile fencing equipment such as tracked machines with post drivers or augers capable of negotiating the terrain. The site consists of some shrub/grass flats, with some pinyon/juniper hills and some drainage crossings. Fence location, boundaries, site maps, and access points will be reviewed at a pre-work conference. Following are details and specifications. The contractor will be required to remove all old wire, stays, braces, and items associated with existing fence (if it is determined to be beneficial, posts that stable can be left in place with new posts placed between). Dispose of all materials such as metal or concrete fence posts by recycling at an approved recycling facility or reuse, where appropriate. Posts appropriate for reuse would be t-posts that are straight, plumb, and securely in the ground. Dispose of organic materials such as wooden fence posts and woody vegetation by removal to an approved landfill or recycling center. As with the fence construction the contractor can request authorization to use and refuel tracked machinery off of authorized routes. The Contractor is required to supply all wire to be installed (the posts, clips etc. will be supplied by DWR), and shall furnish all labor, equipment, and materials to complete the work.
