3.1 Turfgrass sod shall be free of objectionable grassy and broad leaf weeds. 3.2 Sod shall be machine cut at a uniform soil thickness of 0.60 inch; and a minimum of 0.50 inch thickness, at the time of cutting. Measurement for thickness shall exclude top growth and thatch. 3.3 Broken rolls or uneven ends will not be acceptable. 3.4 Sod with netting will not be acceptable. 3.5 Standard size sections of turfgrass sod shall be strong enough that it can be picked up and handled without damage. 3.6 Sod shall not be harvested when its moisture content (excessively dry or wet) may adversely affect its survival. 3.7 Before harvesting, the sod shall be mowed uniformly at a height of 2 to 3.5 inches on cool season grasses, and 1 to 2 inches on warm season grasses. 3.8 Sod shall be harvested and delivered within a period of 24 hours, unless a suitable preservation method is approved prior to delivery. Sod not delivered within this period shall be inspected and approved by the City representative prior to unloading. 3.9 Sod shall be reasonably free of diseases, nematodes and soil-borne insects. 3.10 Sod shall be relatively free of thatch.
