Specifications include, but are not limited to: GDOT intends to replace the existing Routine Maintenance Headquarters (Barns) with new facilities in the following 8 counties (Brantley, Burke, Chatham, Chattooga, Franklin, Henry, Randolph, and Stephens) and disassemble and relocate the existing facility in Upson County, for a total on 9 facilities being included within this effort. Some barns will be designed as a 2-bay configuration while others will require a 3-bay configuration. The bays are what GDOT calls drive through bays that will have an overhead door of at least 16' at each end of the bay (2 overhead doors on both sides of the individual bays). In addition to the bays, it is envisioned the facilities will also have an office, restrooms, a breakroom, and a set of stairs leading to a storage mezzanine. The final space requirements will be determined through the course of the initial planning/programming with Georgia Department of Transportation District Engineers and State Facility Manager. The delivery method for these projects will be Design-Bid-Build, and, at a minimum, will employ the services of a Design Professional and a Commissioning Agent, in addition to the services of a general contractor.
