The work to be done under this Contract consists of replacing the existing concrete bridge wearing surface, milling and paving the roadway approaches, and address other structural and safety deficiencies at the bridge that carries Ararat Street over I-190 Northbound and Southbound in Worcester, Bridge No. W-44-117 (1XC). The scope of work includes but is not limited to the following: 1. 1 3/4” pavement milling of the approaches to the limits shown on the drawings or as directed by the Engineer. 2. Removal of the entire existing concrete overlay and subsequently another ¼” of the concrete deck, using mechanical scarification, micro milling, or other approved mechanical means. 3. Full/partial depth excavation and concrete repair of the deck, as directed and approved by the Engineer. 4. Removal of an additional ½” (minimum) of the existing concrete deck through hydroexcavation to produce a rough, bondable surface for the installation of the new overlay. 5. Installing a new concrete overlay and paving approaches. The new overlay shall be 2” thick polymer modified concrete placed and finished in close conformity with the existing grade and specified thickness, and as directed by the Engineer. 6. Reconstructing joints headers, repairing the joints steel armoring and installing new bridge joint seals. 7. Resetting (or replacing) granite curbing on bridge approaches, wheelchair ramps and repairing approach and bridge sidewalks. 8. Repairing beam ends, diaphragms, bridge seats, backwalls and concrete utility supports. 9. Other related work as directed by the Engineer for satisfactory completion of the work.
