This Request for Proposals (RFP) is issued to solicit proposals from qualified, experienced, financially sound, and responsible law firms to provide legal services for UK King’s Daughters, its affiliated corporations, its agents and employees in one or more of the legal specialties listed below. The UK Office of Legal Counsel (described below) may also review proposals to this RFP for potential legal services provided to other University of Kentucky units and affiliated corporations such as UK St. Claire. The legal areas for which UKKD and the UK Office of Legal Counsel is seeking outside legal services include: Litigation in which the UKKD or other UK affiliated corporations, its officers, employees, or agents are parties, including: Civil Rights Litigation Employment Litigation Medical Malpractice Defense Appellate Practice in the state and federal courts Litigation in the Supreme Court of the United States Appeals from Open Records or Open Meetings Decisions of the Attorney General Construction Litigation Contract/Commercial Litigation Unemployment Insurance Proceedings Certificate of Need/Hospital Licensing Other Administrative Proceedings (both internal and external) Collection of contract or other debts Health Care Legal Specialties, including: Complex Health Care transactions HIPAA and other Data Privacy Issues Corporate Compliance Medicare and Medicaid compliance/program issues
