• Main frame requirements: o Shall have a 0.0001-10Hz, ± 10kN electro-mechanical dynamic actuator (horizontal force, displacement). o Shall have a 0.0001-10Hz, ± 10kN electro-mechanical dynamic actuator (vertical force, displacement). o Shall allow axial (shear) displacement of ± 20mm. o Shall allow vertical displacement of ± 15mm. o Main components of the DSS shall be made of stainless steel to ensure mechanical compliance is minimal. o DSS chamber shall allow confining/back pressures up to 2MPa. • Dynamic Controller & Acquisition Unit Requirements: o Dynamic servo control system & acquisition unit to log all requirement sensors, with accessories needed for equipment to function properly. o Dynamic servo controller must have adaptive PID (Proportional–Integral–Derivative) control. o Data logging rate must be at least 200 points/cycle or 500 points/second to allow fast capture of data during cyclic control. • Shall include an automated pressure/volume controller rated to at least 2MPa minimum with power, touch screen graphics display, and accessories needed for equipment to function properly. Pressure controllers must not require the use of a compressed air supply. • Shall accommodate samples sizes of up to 100mm diameter, with associated sample sets and accessories to test: o 70mm diameter samples, supplied with two kits: I. Suitable for testing samples with a set of low friction stacked rings. II. Suitable for testing samples without stacked rings with a skirted style top cap. • Shall provide the following sensors: o Submersible load cells rated up to 10kN (one for each X, Y, Z axis). o External displacement transducers with mounting bracket. 25mm range for vertical axis and 50mm range for horizontal axis. o Two Pressure transducers rated to 2MPa with de-airing block valves. One sensor for pore water pressure measurement, and the other for local cell pressure feedback control. o Local strain sensors mounted in close proximity to the sample to allow for accurate measurement of strain. Software must allow for closed-loop control using these sensors as feedback. Vertical Sensor to be at least ± 5mm travel. Horizontal sensor to be at least ± 10mm travel. • Shall have a software interface that is with GUI surface which has live data views, graphical and tabular displays of data and allows the user to input desired test procedures, such as: o Saturation Stage o Isotropic, Anisotropic or Ko Consolidation Stage o Static Loading Stage o Cyclic Shear Stage (with stress or strain control) o Liquefaction Cyclic Stage • Data must be exportable to spreadsheet format (CSV) such as Excel. • Must provide all related instructional materials for proper hardware setup and software use. • System must be factory calibrated, with necessary calibration certificates provided with the equipment. • Shall include an installation kit to allow complete installation of the system, consisting of tools, tubing, fittings, PTFE Tape, and connectors that are required for equipment to function properly.
