The upgrades of four (4) wastewater pump stations located throughout the Town of Somerset and one pump station owned by Somerset but located within the Town of Swansea. The one pump station located in the Town of Swansea is the Millers Lane pump station. The four (4) of the pump stations in the Town of Somerset are located in flood zones and will have the electrical components remotely located, these pump stations will not have back up power generators. The Millers Lane pump station is outside of flood zones and will have a backup power generator and will not require a remote location of electrical components. The work varies between the five pump stations but generally consists of installation of grinder pumps, new electrical components, and controls, new structures and associated site work. Two pump stations (Cherry Street and Millers Lane) will be replaced with new structures and three of the pump stations will require structural modifications (Durfee Court, Gay Street, Owen Avenue). Rerouting of existing gravity sewers and connecting to existing force mains will be required at all stations. Pulling new HDPE force main through the existing force main will be necessary at Durfee Court and Gay Street pump stations.
