4.4. GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS 1. Contractor has the responsibility of monitoring weather conditions prior to and during each storm. 2. Contractor is expected to minimize the number of pushes used and to perform the snow removal as efficiently as possible. 3. There are to be no billable hours for standby, lost plow time, schools that are plowed by others, breakdowns, or cost for repairs. 4. Snow removal must be available at the contractor’s pricing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. 5. Angle all plows in such a manner as to prevent snow from accumulating on sidewalks or areas along the curb lane. 6. Under extreme snow emergency situations, contractors may be asked to provide additional services at locations not awarded to them by contract. 7. Contractor must show good faith effort to meet and fulfill intent of this contract. If problems develop and persist during the contract period, these problems may be used in future bid evaluations and contract awards. 8. Salting is to be sufficient to prevent slipping and sliding and is to be uniformly spread using appropriate spreading equipment. 9. Any and all damage done to school property, trees, lawns, fences, sign posts, lamp posts, playground equipment, etc., is to be reported to the District the same day it happens and is to repaired by the contractor as soon as possible. This would include any damage done to driving and walking surfaces. Repairs to lawns are to be done prior to grass-cutting season in the spring. 10. Under no circumstances are parked vehicles to be plowed in. 11. Contractor will be responsible for contacting a building designee after each snow removal occurrence with the total number of pushes. This is critical in order to reconcile services and approve invoices for payment. 4.5. SITE VISITS 1. The contractor is responsible for examining each location and verifying all areas to be plowed to ensure the company has full capacity to perform the needed job. 2. Contractor may schedule visits to confirm the snow removal areas. 3. Contact Mike Hogue to schedule a site visit – (859) 322-6129. 4.6. AREAS TO BE PLOWED 1. Service drives, entrances, exits, and parking lot areas. 2. Snow is to be plowed away from sidewalks, especially where busses load and unload students. • Large schools may have multiple bus lanes; please note and plow accordingly. 3. Back drag snow from loading dock areas and areas around dumpsters. 4. Snow should always be plowed away from sidewalks and buildings and never plowed against doors, stairwells, or fire escapes. Likewise, no snow is to be pushed up against or dumped on fencing, trash dumpsters, or fire hydrants. Additionally, no snow is to be pushed onto non-school district property. 5.
