Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC), Solid, 100% Bulk - Minimum specifications: i. PAC must have an ANSI/NSF Standard 61 certification. ii. PAC must meet the most current version of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standard B600, and will be of a type and quality suitable for use in water treatment, with the property of removing the objectionable tastes and odors caused by any organic or inorganic taste and odor producing bodies encountered in either raw or treated water supplies. Such material will be designated as water purification grade of activated carbon and will be supplied in powderedform. iii. PAC shall be in powdered form and of such characteristics that it will readily wet down and go into suspension. iv. PAC must not settle too rapidly, yet must not have a tendency to float on the surface of the water to which it is applied. v. PAC of questionable quality will be analyzed by an independent laboratory. If it does not meet the specifications the supplier will be required to remit payment to the laboratory for the analysis and remove the rejected material from the plant site. The City reserves the right to reject shipments that do not meet quality specifications. vi. The PAC carbon shall contain no substances in quantities capable of producing deleterious or injurious effects on the health of those consuming the water which has been treated properly with the PAC.
