The MoDOT maintenance facility in Galena, Missouri currently lacks a direct connection to the City of Galena’s public sanitary sewer system, necessitating the construction of a new sanitary pump station and force main that will extend to the existing city system. The proposed extension will involve installation of a wet well grinder pump station with approximately 4,550 LF of HDPE force main. This will also include associated fittings and air release valves to convey wastewater from the maintenance facility to the nearest point of connection with the existing public sanitary main. The line shall run east from the maintenance facility along Missouri Route 248 and the connection will be made to the existing public sanitary manhole west of the intersection of Missouri Route 248 and Blunk Rd. All work shall be completed within MoDOT right-of-way. The design includes sanitary pipe and pump station sizing, alignment, depth, and hydraulic calculations to ensure proper hydraulic performance and wastewater conveyance capacity. The design also incorporates appropriate fittings, and air release valves for proper use of the force main. A thorough site analysis was conducted to assess terrain and utility conflicts, and appropriate design accommodations have been detailed in the construction documents.
