The North Charleston Sewer District is looking to change 769 Lincoln Ave’s sewer service from a septic system to our public sewer system. We will need to abandon the old sewer service that goes from the home to the septic system located in the back yard and reroute the service across a neighboring property (769 West Front Street) to our public sewer system. There will need to be a two-way cleanout installed by home, a wye cleanout where the service connects to our system, and also cleanouts approximately every 50 feet along the new service line. We will also need the old septic tank abandoned. See attached exhibit for visual reference. Per SCDES, the septic tank will need to be pumped out to remove all the organic contents once abandoned. The old septic tank either needs to be dug out and removed, or filled with suitable fill materials and the holes cored in the bottom so ground water can flow. The drain field is fine to stay afterwards.
