Eagle Mountain is requesting proposals for the expansion of the city's wastewater treatment facility. Eagle Mountain is geographically divided into two drainage basins. The wastewater south service area is collected and treated at a facility located south of the city offices in the City Center. Treatment currently is provided with an activated sludge process consisting of a headworks facility, an oxidation ditch, 3 clarifiers and solids separation facility. Treated wastewater effluent is disposed in a series of rapid infiltration basins. The City is currently designing a tertiary treatment facility intended to treat the wastewater effluent to a type 1 standard. The ultimate goal would be to utilize the type 1 treated wastewater as a pressurized irrigation source. This existing facility was constructed in 2009 with an original capacity of 1.2 MGD. It was later expanded to 2.4 MGD in 2019. A new headworks facility was constructed in 2023 to replace the failing headworks facility. The new headworks facility has an average capacity of 5.4 MGD and will not need to be upgraded for the expansion project.
