Position Summary: The Criminal Intelligence Analyst is a grant-funded position within the Jefferson County Municipal Enforcement Group with a primary responsibility of analyzing and assessing confidential criminal information. The position is responsible for developing comprehensive analytical reports and working with investigators to assist with gathering information relevant to criminal investigations. The position may also be responsible for compiling statistical reports for grants and monthly, quarterly, and yearly commander’s reports. The position conducts numerous de-conflictions through multiple systems for officer’s safety, persons, physical addresses, and vehicle information. The Criminal Intelligence Analyst is a singular position that works onsite with investigators. Description of Duties Performed: Perform quality control of data entered into various databases in order to maintain the integrity of the intelligence data received and / or disseminated. Perform criminal analysis to determine the identification of subjects / possible subjects involved in narcotics and other criminal activity. Perform record analysis to determine interrelationships and transactions involving criminal activity; use crime analysis techniques including, but not limited to, time series analysis, and case analysis to view and evaluate patterns of similar suspects or crime groups, to include maps, charts, and other statistics. Research, compile, and disseminate intelligence information to officers regarding subjects in question for criminal activity. Conduct numerous deconflictions through multiple systems for officer’s safety, persons, physical addresses, and vehicle information. Compile and submit statistical reports for grants and monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of law enforcement terminology and narcotics investigative techniques. Training and Knowledge of the following systems: 1. JDex / NPlex 2. TLO Information System 3. Rissnet / MOCIC 4. EPIC Knowledge in the collection, analyzing and dissemination of criminal intelligence information. Ability to research databases in to find information requested by investigators. Ability to perform tedious intelligence searches while maintaining high quality control and proof reading skills in the performance of job tasks. Ability to multitask and determine high priority tasks in accomplishment of daily duties. Ability to analyze intelligence information, submitted documents and statistical data; present finding of facts in written and graphic form. Ability to handle restricted and confidential information in a professional manner and maintain the information as such. Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts and devise solutions to problems.
