1. ALED Hardware: each unit will consist of a. A ground base station in the form of a wheeled case that holds and safely transports all included equipment. The case shall be scratch and puncture resistant. This ground station shall be portable by a single person and fit easily into a truck bed or trunk of an SUV. b. Tethered hovering unit i. The tether shall have a tensile strength of at least 250 lbs. c. A controller, for the hovering unit, and a 10-foot cable permanently wiring it to the ground base station. d. Backup battery, for emergency landing, on both air and ground units e. GFCI circuit protection. f. The ALED shall have an environmental rating of at least IP65 and be operable in snow, rain, and dust. 2. ALED Operational Requirements a. Lighting at 80 ft above ground i. The usable field of light shall be at least 8000 sq/ft. ii. Four LED light fixtures of at least 25,000 lumens each. iii. Brightness shall be adjustable from 20% to 100%. iv. Each LED fixtures shall be adjustable to 20° in all directions. b. Operating Height shall be between 40 and 100 feet. c. The ALED shall be powered by external sources; at minimum: generators, vehicle inverters and wall/shore power. d. Maximum operating time shall be unlimited as long as external power is supplied. e. Audible Alert during landing from hovering unit and ground base station. f. Secure, wired, communication system between hovering unit, ground base station, and controller. 3. Hovering Unit Requirements a. Compliance with all FAA regulations. b. The hovering unit shall be incapable of untethered operation and required continuous tether power c. Shrouded propellers d. Automatic controlled landing in case of loss of power or coms e. Anticollision strobe lighting compliant with FAA regulations f. Remote ID broadcast beacon g. Redundant compass, altitude sensors, and inertial measurement units.
