This RFP is issued for the purpose of selecting a qualified firm(s) to complete engineering plans necessary to advance the design of the proposed improvements. The firm will work closely with a local Steering Committee to determine the exact specifications desired in each of the following areas: accessible parking, improvements to drainage, and the creation of a pavilion on the current concrete slab. The RRPC will rely on the consultant’s professional expertise to ensure that all pertinent factors are analyzed and is open to additional or alternative approaches to achieve the overall goal of enhancing the community and recreational value of Benson’s village center. Attention given to designs that produce the intended results while limiting the cost of construction is especially desirable. The RRPC seeks a qualified engineering firm to produce the following: • Conceptual Plans. The Consultant will prepare Conceptual (30%) Plans and a Conceptual Cost Estimate for the improvements. The Conceptual Plans will indicate the existing topography and other base information and illustrate the proposed work. The design will be in accordance with the Vermont Pedestrian and Bicycle Facility Planning and Design Manual, 2024 VTrans Standard Specifications for Construction, the current editions of the Vermont State Standards, and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Identified right-of-ways, utilities, natural and cultural resources, and other features affecting the design will be indicated on the plans. The basis for project pay items will be the 2024 VTrans Standard Specifications for Construction.
