The City of Madison has a newly constructed East-West (E-W) BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system. The E-W line consists of 22 center median stations and 16 curbside stations totaling 38 physical platforms. The EW line runs from East Springs Dr, through downtown, to the Junction Rd Park and Ride. These stops will need to be kept clear of snow and ice during all snow and ice events. For the Junction Road site, the driveway and parking lot should be maintained as well. Metro Transit has installed in ground heaters on majority of the platform surfaces, but it is uncertain how effective they will be in all snow/ice events. To ensure the safety of the riding public, the City is looking for a contractor to maintain snow and ice at BRT stops during the winter snow and ice season. The selected contractor to keep surface reasonably slip free at all times during service hours. 4:00am-1:00am This will mainly be manual labor involving shoveling, snow blowing, and hand salting. This work will happen at varying hours, including days, nights and weekends. It is required that the awarded contractor work and continue to work during and after all snow events to ensure BRT stops are clear of snow and ice and maintain a reasonably slip-free surface.
