1. Contractor shall clean only exterior masonry (granite) surfaces with the gentlest method possible, such as using low-pressure water and detergent and natural bristle or other soft-bristle brushes with biodegradable or environmentally-safe cleaning agents. Cleaners selected by Contractor must be designated for cleaning granite. Biodegradable products are preferred. 2. Contractor shall conduct an initial visual assessment to evaluate the overall condition of the masonry and determine if any repairs to masonry features, will be necessary. 3. Contractor shall conduct a preliminary masonry cleaning test. Test areas should be examined to ensure that no damage has resulted. 4. Contractor shall only use trained personnel to perform designated cleaning methods. 5. Contractor will take all precautions in protecting adjacent structures/materials when working on masonry features. 6. Contractor shall comply with the following standards: a. American National Standards Institute (ANSI). b. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) c. Conformance with any other applicable local codes and standards. 7. All materials used for this contract must be used in accordance with manufacturer instructions. Detergents, degreasers, and other chemicals used must be environmentally friendly (‘green”) products appropriate for the surface being cleaned. 8. Contractor shall provide a list of equipment owned and chemicals planned for cleaning with their proposal. MSDS data sheets shall be included for all chemicals to be used in the cleaning process. 9. Contractor shall provide a Cleaning Schedule, with work to be performed from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, (EST). Any alternate times proposed for cleaning must be approved in advance by the City. Contractor shall provide barricades when work is performed in areas where pedestrians are present, or when deemed necessary by the City. Schedule should provide that the completion of all cleaning is to be completed within the week it is scheduled. Contractor shall coordinate cleaning schedule with the project manager and City staff. 10. Cleaning shall include removal of dirt, gum, oil, marking paint (when possible) and any other matter that is not intended to be on an exterior wall surface.
