Sidewalks must be cleared of snow full-width and length upon receiving two-inches (2") of snowfall. Furthermore, the full-width and full-length of sidewalks shall always be kept clear of ice (salt is the preferred method to keep sidewalks clear of ice). The sidewalks that are to be cleared are the public City sidewalks, adjacent handicapped ramps and the service walks leading to a private residence(s), when applicable. In addition, if there is a fire hydrant adjacent to the property a three (3) foot by three (3) foot clearance around the hydrant must be maintained. The removal of the snow and ice shall be performed within a time frame of twenty-four (24) hours after the snow and / or ice event ends. With parcels located near school crossings (parcel #70, #72, and #90 listed below), snow and/or ice must be cleared before 7:00 AM if a snow and/or ice event occurred before 7:00 AM. The parcels (#70, #72, and #90 listed below) must also be cleared before 3:00 PM if a snow and/or ice event occurred before 3:00 PM. In the event that subsequent drifting of snow on sidewalks occurs from experiencing sustained winds, the removal of any windrow due to blowing snow shall be performed within the same time frame of the twenty-four (24) hour requirement for storm response. In this case, when sustained winds have ceased. If any portion of a sidewalk within the scope of City and Contractor's agreed upon service area is determined by the City to be in a condition where snow and/or ice continues to be present in a manner unsatisfactory to the City after the Contractor's work is completed, the Director of City Development or their designee may require the Contractor to perform snow and/or ice removal a second or subsequent time so to make the sidewalk completely clear of snow and/or ice. The final determination of satisfactory performance of snow and/or ice removal shall be at the sole discretion of the City. Notice by the City to the Contractor to re-perform snow and/or ice removal may be made by electronic mail, telephone, or text message. Contractor must initiate snow and/or ice removal of the indicated sidewalk(s) within two (2) hours of such notice by the City. Failure to comply may result in the City withholding partial or full payment. Snow removal equipment with plows and cutting edges greater than five (5.0) feet and/or operating weights exceeding six- thousand (6,000) pounds are not permitted to be used in snow and ice responses. In determination of what equipment is acceptable for use, any implement commensurate to City-utilized machinery is acceptable. The determination of equipment and/or implements not acceptable under this Contract shall be made by the Department of Public Works. Any and all damages to property including turf damage that is sustained in the course of service provision as determined by the Department of City Development, shall be repaired and restored by the Contractor at the end of the snow and ice season.
