1. Gear must meet requirements set forth in NFPA 1970, which encompasses NFPA 1971 (Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting). Gear must meet all restrictions on PFAS as set forth in the standard. 2. The gear manufacturer must provide gear repair training for three (3) members of SCFD. Cost for travel, lodging, and instructor must be included. Training must be conducted within one (1) year of purchase date. 3. Gear must be available in black. Trim must be Lime color. 4. Outer Shell must be composed of PBI Max fabric is preferred but a similar fabric will be considered. 5. Coat Closure composed of a 2” Velcro with zipper is preferred but not required. 6. Sedgwick County Fire Department patch on right sleeve. 7. Labels shall be permanently onto materials that meet all requirements for labels of NFPA 1971. Each garment must have the Firefighter first and last name printed on each label. 8. Each garment shall have care instructions either attached to the label or in an instructional packet that complies with user information requirements of NFPA 1971. 9. To ensure a perfect fit, sizing shall be determined by actual measurements taken of the firefighter by a trained measurement specialist with sizing try-ons. The sizing location must be at the location chosen by SCFD 1. 10. All pockets must have a means to drain water and shall have a means of closure. Magnetic or hook and loop (Velcro) is preferred.
