The Special Health Services Unit, Newborn Screening and Follow-up (NBS FU) program is seeking a Newborn Screening Long-term Follow-up (NBS LTFU) Consultant to provide support regarding the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)-24-052 Cooperative Newborn Screening System Priorities Program (NBS Co-Propel) Grant. The State NBS FU program is seeking a NBS FU Consultant to provide the following: Assist with the implementation of the Newborn Screening (NBS) project to meet the goals of the HRSA-24-052 Grant. Serve as a subject matter expert for rare disease and NBS. Assist with quality assurance and improvement plans and policy development. Assist with the planning of new technologies for bioinformatics and data interoperability within health care systems, the NBS system, and vital records. Lead efforts in data informed decisions. Monitor and evaluate health disparities and outcomes. Assist with education awareness and advocacy. Assist in the identification and evaluation of gaps in current NBS education and delivery methods for expectant/new parents and delivery providers. Assist in the planning of the NBS Conference scheduled for 2026. Develop education on conditions added to the Recommended Uniform Screening Panel (RUSP) that North Dakota is not currently screening for. Attend routine virtual team meetings and in person meetings, as needed. This contract requires a Licensed Genetic Counselor with at least 10 years in NBS and experience in bioinformatics, interoperability systems, specifically connecting vital records, and NBS systems.
