3.1 Awarded Contractor(s) shall perform work according to the City of Lincoln Standard Specifications for Municipal Construction 2023 and ANSI Standards A300 and Z133. 3.1.1 Exclusions include liquidated damages unless otherwise addressed with the Contract Administrator. 3.1.2 The City/Owner reserves the right to amend the contract to increase or decrease the bid quantities by up to 15% without penalty or change in pricing. 3.1.3 All trees identified for installation in Fall 2024 must be planted during the Fall planting season defined as September 1st through November 15th, 2024. 3.2 All trees shall be a minimum of 1 ½” caliper. 3.2.1 Base bid contract price for trees shall be for the Owner’s preference that all trees be root bag grown. 3.2.2 If the Contractor(s) is not able to provide all specified trees in grow bags, container grown trees may be accepted as alternate bid items. 3.2.3 Deviation from grow bag trees must be noted on the bid submittal as noted in Specification 1.4. 3.3 Installation of trees under this contract shall be guided by the following specifications. 3.3.1 Owner shall inspect trees prior to delivery and installation. 3.3.2 A pre-construction conference for the Contractor(s) to demonstrate tree planting in conformance with the City’s specifications shall be performed under the observation of an LPR representative prior to proceeding with the Contract. 3.3.3 Contractor shall provide a schedule for planting and inform Owner when on site to perform plantings. 3.3.4 Owner will periodically check plantings for conformance with the City’s specifications and installations shall cease until corrections have been completed to the satisfaction of an LPR representative. 3.3.5 Trees shall be double staked using ArborTie® or similar, staking system. 3.3.6 Trees shall be watered initially upon planting. 3.3.7 Trees shall be properly mulched with hardwood mulch to the drip line, upon completion of planting. 3.4 Contractor shall supply, install, and fill Treegator® for all trees, or equivalent water bags at the time of planting. 3.4.1 Single bag fits minimum 1” caliper to maximum 4” DBH tree. 3.4.2 Bags shall be constructed of polyethylene with nylon webbing, black polypro straps and nylon zippers. 3.4.3 Bags shall have a minimum of two (2) water release points 3.4.4 Bags shall be UV stabilized to withstand exposure to sunlight. 3.4.5 Each bag shall hold 18-20 gallons of water. 3.4.6 Bags shall include one (1) year contractor warranty from the date of installation. 3.5 Cleanup and Protection 3.5.1 Proceed with and complete tree planting work as rapidly as the site becomes available, working within seasonal limitations. 3.5.2 During planting work, keep pavement clean and work areas in an orderly condition. 3.5.3 Protect existing utilities, paving, plant material and other facilities from damage. 3.6 Contractor shall be responsible for acquiring and paying for all permits, fees and licenses associated with the work. 3.7 Contractor shall be responsible for contacting the utility locate service (One Call).
