The Project consists of alterations to the Dr. Hazo W. Carter, Jr. Integrated Research and Extension Building located at 200 Avenue A, Institute, WV 25112. This Project is the Phase V redevelopment of the former F. Ray Power Building previously operated by the WV State Rehabilitation Hospital. Abatement of interior hazardous materials has been performed ahead of this General Construction Project and shell space has been completed. The gross existing building area is approximately 33,000 square feet. Alterations of approximately 5,540 square feet of the building are designed to convert shell space into offices and laboratories. HVAC reconfiguration will be conducted on approximately 2,600 SF of the first floor. Exterior work will be limited to incidental work related to new services and roof access. Other construction work includes: selective demolition as shown, interior doors; non-load bearing interior partitions; ceilings, wall and floor finishes; new casework and laboratory casework; alterations to ductwork, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection; new lighting, electrical and telecommunication systems.
